TIPS FOR PARTICIPANTS

Getting started the first day
Every other day we will have had program sign ups the previous night. But Monday morning is different. Guests can rent skis at the store at 8:30 am. At 9:00 am there will be an orientation in the Activity Center for guests who have never been to the program before. At 9:30 am all guests interested in a lesson or tour will meet in the Activity Room prepared to go skiing. We meet again in the Activity room at 1:45 to organize the afternoon activities.

A typical day
Things become “typical” at dinner on Monday night, so that is where we will start. After our dinner there will be announcements. We will discuss the lessons and tours for tomorrow. Guests will go downstairs to the Bailey Room to sign up for lessons and tours. After sign ups guests may come back upstairs for the evening program.

In the morning guests will come to the activity center at the prescribed time for their activity. Lessons and tours are scheduled to begin at various times. All activities will run according to the schedule offered the previous night unless conditions warrant some change.

Vegetarian Meals
Alternative entrees for vegitarians are provided for each dinner.

THINGS TO BRING

For lessons and tours
Guests should have synthetic or woolen clothing for outdoor activities rather than cotton. A small pack is recommended and one should carry water, snacks (or your lunch). Extra gloves or mittens and other clothing is good to be able to carry along. Sun screen and sun glasses should be helpful too.

For walking
We use and highly recommend bringing special traction devices for your shoes. These can be purchased at REI or through some outdoors catalogues and a variety of other outdoor supply stores may have them. The Diamond Lake Resort compound is large and temperatures and conditions can change frequently and may result in icy conditions for walking. I love them and occasionally use them around the Portland area if we get ice storms.

Variety show
Is there an instrument you might play, prop you might use or costume you might wear?

Early Sunday Arrival
Rooms may not be prepared early on Sunday so if you arrive early and want to ski have that clothing and equipment handy so you can change in a restroom and get out on the snow.
